Join us for our Inaugural Season

During this inaugural season, the SAPhil will be performing some of the greatest symphonic repertoire in the service of our critical mission: community engagement and education throughout San Antonio and beyond.

Classics Performances

Opening with a world premiere by San Antonio composer, Ethan Wickman, our inaugural season shines a new beacon for the future of music in the Alamo City. Alive with the power and beauty of beloved classics, the season brings the enchanting masterworks of Brahms, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Wagner, Holst, and more. Join us in a transcendent experience of the human spirit through music.

School Performances

What’s more, in schools throughout the San Antonio area, we will present 36 free-admission programs related to literature, science, and social studies to school groups through our Young People’s Concert series as well as perform community concerts that will engage and enrich our community at large. Pops Concerts

In addition to our classical season, we hope you’ll join us for three exciting pops concerts: A Celebration of Martin Luther King with bass-baritone Timothy Jones, A Night at the Movies, and A Fiesta Celebration with Mexican-American flautist Elena Durán.

Conductors, Soloists, and Music

Many wonderful conductors are returning home to share in our cause, including Sebastian-Lang Lessing, Christopher Wilkins, Akiko Fujimoto and Ken-David Masur.

Come experience a range of the most famous and popular works by Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Holst, Mozart, Prokofiev and Ravel. Setting off these favorites will be new works by composers including Andrea Casarrubios, Jessie Montgomery, Arturo Márquez, and San Antonio’s own Ethan Wickman. Our season is teeming with brilliant soloists Nancy Zhou and Randall Goosby (violin), Thomas Mesa (cello). Vanessa Becerra (soprano), Dimitri Illarionov (guitar) and William Wolfram (piano).

Closing out our season of classics, we are thrilled to be joined by celebrated pianist Jon Kimura Parker performing Beethoven.
