Violinist Randall Goosby, who delighted the SA Phil audience last season, returns to perform one of the greatest violin pieces ever written, Mendelssohn’s Concerto in E minor. Decorated Colombian conductor Lina González-Granados opens with Iranian-Canadian composer Iman Habibi’s Jeder Baum spricht (“every tree speaks”) which was commissioned by The Philadelphia Orchestra in celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. The San Antonio Philharmonic then triumphantly concludes its second season with one of the most famous works of all time – Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5.
