Paint To Music Contest

The Symphony League invites students attending any of each school year’s Young People’s Concerts to create a work of visual art in the classroom setting while listening to thematic selections of music chosen by the San Antonio Philharmonic to coordinate with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) teaching objectives. Teachers participating in the program have access to musical recordings and Teacher Guides.

Submitted pieces of artwork are reviewed by a panel of judges. Normally, some 150 – 200 pieces of artwork are awarded a prize. Selections of the winning artwork are showcased at the culminating Young People’s Concerts in February, and winners receive complimentary tickets to a San Antonio Philharmonic concert, where their art is displayed and they are recognized.

League volunteers help with the art drop-off day and organize the judging activity. They also set up the art displays and assist students at the concerts.
