LET THERE BE LIGHT!
San Antonio Mastersinger present FREE concert featuring Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna and other “Light” themed works on Sunday, March 5 at 3PM.
The San Antonio Mastersingers, under the direction of Dr. Yoojin Muhn, will present a FREE concert in the Edgewood Theatre of Performing Arts, located in the Edgewood ISD at 402 Lance Street, San Antonio. This event will include musicians from the San Antonio Philharmonic and will feature Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna and Sure on this Shining Night.
Dr. Muhn enjoys a special connection with the composer, Morten Lauridsen. Dr. Muhn earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Music with honors at the University of Southern California, where Lauridsen was Distinguished Professor of Composition and one of her instructors.
Lauridsen received the National Medal of Arts in 2007 – the highest artistic award in the United States – by President George W. Bush in a White House ceremony “for his composition of radiant choral works combining musical beauty, power, and spiritual depth that have thrilled audiences worldwide.”
The Edgewood Theatre of Performing Arts’ huge stage, excellent acoustics, and easy parking offer everything needed for the 100 Mastersingers voices and the accompanying orchestra. Several students from EISD Performing Arts Academy will join the Mastersingers on stage for two pieces.
