Brian Petkovich

President, Bassoon

Brian has actively represented his colleagues as a long-time member of the Symphony Society of San Antonio board of directors. He was a prime mover in founding the MOSAS Performance Fund, which enabled the orchestra to return to the stage in the spring of 2022. For 10 years he served as Secretary/Treasurer of the American Federation of Musicians Local 23.

Before joining the San Antonio Symphony, Brian was a member of the Ann Arbor Symphony and New World Symphony. He has performed with the National Symphony, Sydney Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, and many others.

Growing up in Michigan, he holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Michigan and a Master of Music from the University of Southern California. He protects justice ferociously but would rather collaborate than argue; his friends enjoy his sharp mind and gentle sense of humor.
